Promoted since 1980 by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) is the biggest design award in the United States and one of the largest in the world.

In the second edition of the Brazilian stage of the IDEA, the IDEA Brazil, held in 2009, more than 1000 projects were registered, and only 103 were awarded. The IDEA has14 categories encompassing the typical diversity of the design.

Fibra was awarded with the silver trophy in the category Eco-design for the project Chico bicycle, oriented to children and designed to adapt to different stages of psychomotor development of children. The bike can be used by children from two to ten years old and was made of bent laminated organic mosso bamboo.
